Black people are still treated like slaves

February 06, 2026

Dear Pastor,

I know it is right for everyone to work and make an honest living. The only type of job I think is bad is prostitution, but things do happen and the Lord doesn't condemn anyone.

But I believe that black people are not truly free to go up the social ladder. We have to face so many obstacles and oppression, especially from our own race. However, I believe that we are not truly free within the society. We are living on a plantation where we have to work and pay bills until we die.

The only thing the higher heads are doing is lynching black people. Society is very unjust and we are the working class slaves. But if we don't work, how will we be able to eat and drink and take care of our families? That is why the younger generations are not having children. They do not agree to make more slaves for the system to use as labourers. Plus, raising children is very expensive.

I can't believe that Jesus placed us in this world to be slaves. This is why some people commit suicide. Slavery still exists, but it is the modern day type of slavery. Living comes with pain. Only the dead seem to be happy for the moment because they are not feeling pain, and they are not under stress. Even the government looks at black people as idiots.

Dear A.F.,

I find it very difficult to understand your letter. But I will point out one or two things you said.

You said that prostitution is the only type of thing that you consider wrong. I don't believe that to be so. You consider black people to be working slaves. I don't accept that. We are living in a society where every black man is given an opportunity to have an education. An education is the best way forward. What I would suggest to you is to seek the best education that you can get, so you will not blame anybody for keeping you down.
