A St James bartender is facing serious trouble with the law after she was accused of dipping into her employer's cash, stealing almost $200,000 while left in charge of a bar in Flankers.

Forty-two-year-old Charmaine Heslop of Glendevon Road has been charged with larceny as a servant following an incident at a bar in Church Hill, Flankers, between December 22, 2025 and January 5, 2026.

Reports from the Coral Gardens police say Heslop was entrusted with the day-to-day operations of the establishment when her employer handed over control on December 22.

However, when the businesswoman returned on January 5 to review sales and profits, she allegedly discovered that a staggering $198,000 was missing.

Investigators say Heslop was questioned about the shortfall but was unable to give a satisfactory explanation for the missing cash.

She was subsequently taken to the police station, where a report was made and she was formally charged.

Heslop is to appear in court on a date to be finalised.
