Man fined $30k for driving with wrong licence plate
A St Catherine man who was caught driving a motor car with the wrong licence plate was fined $30,000 or 10 days' imprisonment in the Parish Court today, November 26, 2025.
Alvin Baxter pleaded guilty to fraudulent use of licence plate. He was fined and given two demerit points.
He also received a stern warning from Parish Court Judge Courtney Maxwell, who told him the offence was a serious one.
"At a time when the police is on high alert about some type of vehicles, it is best that you do the right thing," Maxwell said.
The court heard that in October the police stopped a Nissan Tiida motor car driven by Baxter.
During checks of the documents, it was revealed that the plate was issued for a Toyota Probox.
The vehicle was seized and Baxter was arrested and later charged.
