Businessman slapped with fraud charge

September 16, 2025

Thirty-five-year-old businessman Nicholas Morgan of Abbeville, Kingston 20, has been charged with fraudulent conversion following an incident that occurred between January 13 and July 28.

Reports from the Portmore Criminal Investigation Branch are that Morgan received a bank transfer with the sum of $1.3 million from a woman as payment for a 2019 Honda Fit motor vehicle. It was later borne out that Morgan had converted the fund for his personal use, after she did not receive her car, and efforts to secure a refund proved futile. A report was made to the police and an investigation was launched immediately into the matter.

Morgan was charged after a question-and-answer session in the presence of his attorney while in custody in relation to a similar matter. A court date is being finalised for him.
