Fake job letter leads to arrest - Man was using fraudulent documents to get a US visa
A fake hotel worker who presented the United States Embassy with a forged job letter during a visa application interview was recently hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Charged with forgery and uttering a forged document is Dane Campbell.
He presented a signed job letter claiming that he was employed to the Grand Palladium Hotel.
Campbell pleaded guilty to both offences and told the court that he does not want to go to prison because of his daughter.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey said, "But how you was going to go away leave her?"
Campbell said, "Your honour, I was introduced to a woman who I was told deals with visa application."
"The only place that deals with visa application is the US embassy, so stop right there," RM Pusey interrupted.
Campbell was subsequently fined $50,000 or six moths for forgery and $30,000 or six months for uttering a forged document.
A fingerprint order was also made against him.
