Kingston prepares to honour Bounty Killer

Dancehall icon Bounty Killer is set to receive one of Jamaica’s highest civic recognitions when the City of Kingston honours him for his outstanding contribution to music and culture on Tuesday.
The ceremony will mark the official conferment of the Key to the City of Kingston upon Bounty Killer in recognition of his decades-long impact as a pioneering force in the music industry and his role as a cultural ambassador for Jamaica.
The honour celebrates Bounty Killer’s enduring legacy as a creative visionary, philanthropist and outspoken voice of the people. Through his music, mentorship and social advocacy, the veteran entertainer has influenced generations of artistes while helping to shape the global reach of Jamaican dancehall.
As part of the celebration, Wenchman Road, in his childhood community of Seaview Gardens, will officially be renamed Rodney Price Drive, paying tribute to the artiste’s deep connection to the community.
The renaming is also a recognition of his wider impact on Jamaican culture and his influence on the international music landscape. The honour follows a string of major accolades for the Warlord, who was presented with the Reggae Icon Award at the Grand Gala in 2024. Later that year, he was awarded the Order of Distinction, Jamaica’s sixth-highest national honour, during the country’s Heroes Day celebrations.
