The police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) is reporting that the dogs suspected to have attacked the St Richard's Primary School teacher on Thursday, have been removed from their owner.

The dogs were removed last Saturday, with the assistance of the Jamaica Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

In a statement yesterday, the CCU said that the Red Hills police are intensifying their investigation into the attack on the school teacher in Cooper's Hill, St Andrew.

Information garnered from the Red Hills police is that they were alerted of a dog attack at Woodlawn Close in the community.

Police spokeswoman Deputy Superintendent Dahlia Garrick said that when the police team arrived, the woman was still being mauled by the dogs and had to be rescued by the cops.

She was taken to the hospital by the police where she remains in serious condition.

However, Garrick, responding to claims that the police took four hours to respond to the call, said that based on her preliminary investigations, that was inaccurate.

She also said that investigations were still under way.
